Champions league betting tips

The annual UEFA Champions League is undoubtedly a very exciting and thrilling event for all the European football lovers. However, this prestigious and popular international football tournament draws the attention of not only Europeans, but people all around the world, many of which even travel so see the very best teams in Europe compete with each other. Needless to say, such an important sports event is much anticipated not only by football fans, but also by people who chose sports betting as a way to make their living. Brandon F, our dear friend and a follower of this blog, is exactly one of those people.

Being both a huge football fan and a wagerer, in May 2022 he packed his suitcase and travelled all the way from Canterbury, a city located in England, to Paris, to support his country’s team in the final game. As Brandon says himself, he prefers to mix business with pleasure: “I got the game tickets and the plane tickets with the thought that I’m going to bet on Champions League and if I’m lucky enough and calculated everything correctly, my winnings would cover the expenses. And that’s exactly what happened! I won a bet and basically got a free vacation in Paris thanks to it. If you want to make some money on football betting, Champions League is your way to go. A big event means a big audience, means big money”. Today Brandon wants to share some tips and tricks for Champions League betting to help other Dexsport users become winners when the next UEFA Champions League season starts.

Choose a type of bet you are going to place

There are plenty of them. You can bet on a match winner, a tournament winner, the goalscorer, oddities, or accumulators. Personally, I prefer to bet on a tournament winner since it gives me more time to calculate the outcome of a game. It might be a bit more risky than other types of bets, but I’m convinced that big chances are never small stakes. If you are not ready to take a risk, you can bet on a match winner – this is, probably, the most common type of a bet in football, where you’ll have to guess the winner of a single individual match. If you decide to bet on the match winner, the earlier you bet, the better odds you’ll get. As a professional bettor, I don’t like making rushed decisions, that’s why I choose long-term bets instead.

When choosing long-term bets over short-term bets, do not rush

Long-term bets refer to a wager made on the outcome of the whole tournament, rather than one specific match. Such bets give you higher odds, and as a result, a potential for higher returns is much greater than with short-term bets. But don’t forget that the main advantage of long-term bets is that you get more time to make an informed decision and increase your chances for winning. Placing a long-term bet in the beginning of the tournament is not a good strategy, even if you really believe in the team you bet on. Champions League favourites, who are predicted to win the tournament, might suddenly lose their key players, and the weak teams can get an advantage during the winter transfer window, which will absolutely affect the outcome. The best time to place long-term Champions League winner bets would be after the draw for the Champions league round of 16. In this case, you, as a bettor, will be able to evaluate the important information and possible progress of the teams more accurately.

As I mentioned earlier, a winter transfer window might be a great time to rethink your choice

Winter transfer window is a period of time during which clubs have an opportunity to transfer players from one team to another. It allows clubs to strengthen their teams, and is especially important for the clubs that are struggling in the tournament, giving them a chance to discard underperforming players and add the stronger ones to the team instead. On the other hand, new players would need time to adapt and get used to the team, so they might not show their best performance. You should carefully analyse all the changes before you are ready for the Champions League final betting.

Do not be blinded by favouritism

I, myself, would be a great example of this rule: Being from England, I am an ardent fan of Liverpool. I did travel to support them, I enjoyed the game, and of course I was deeply upset when they lost. However, I did not bet on them becoming the winner of the 2021-2022 Champions League. When there is big money at stake, you should think with your head, and not with your heart. Liverpool is a football giant, but Real Madrid, who were the opponents of Liverpool, had a winning formula against such giants and have demonstrated it before, plus there were multiple other factors that I had to take into account before placing my bet, but thanks to the research that was done prior, I was able to make the right choice.

If your goal is to have more fun with your bets, choose betting on oddities

Betting on oddities involves wagering on events that are not related to the results of the match directly. As an example, you can bet on who is going to score the first goal, on who is going to get a red card during the match, total number of yellow cards that are going to be shown during the match, the time of a first goal, etc. This type of betting is very fun and exciting, however such events are difficult to predict, so do not bet more than you can afford to lose.

Last, but not least, choose a platform to bet on wisely.

The amount of money you will be able to put in your wallet after winning a bet depends on the bookmaker you use: They are the ones who determine a Champions League final betting line, coefficients, and even platform’s fees and margin. Use Dexsport in the future since it offers great coefficients and fair odds, plus makes it extremely easy to place a bet regardless of your location. Additionally there are no withdrawal commissions, and money transfers are very smooth and fast.
