Rules on Horse Racing
- All racing bets shall be settled based on the official declaration of the result of the race as made bythe relevant racing authority on the day of the race.
- In the event of a Dead Heat or Draw, the ticket will be paid out at face value divided by the number of Dead Heating winners of the event.
- Whilst Sportsbet strives to provide the most up to date and accurate form, we are not liable for any errors regarding the Thoroughbred, Harness or Greyhound form.

- Place Betting
- Where there are 8 or more runners in a race, a place shall be paid on first, second and third places. If you placed a bet on fixed odds when the field had 8 or more runners and the field later reduced to 7 or less runners, first, second and third places will be paid, however deductions may apply.
- Where there are 7, 6 or 5 runners in a race, a place shall be paid on first and second places only.
- Where there are less than 5 runners in a race, all betting shall be Win only.
- Dead heat rules apply
- Fixed Top 2 Betting
- Pays on runners to come 1st or 2nd in the race
- Bets are only valid on races with 5 or more runners. Any bets placed on a race with less than 5 runners will be voided.
- Dead heat rules apply.
Settlement & Cancellation rules
Scratchings
- If a runner is scratched, the stake will be refunded.
- Futures bets placed on a before Nominations basis will be eligible for a refund should the selection not be nominated for the race when first nominations close. However, no deductions will apply
- Abandoned/Postponed and Transferred Meetings
- If a meeting is abandoned, transferred to another venue/track (including transferring to a different track at the same venue) or postponed to another date, single bets are void. Affected Multi Bets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
- Where a meeting is postponed and rescheduled to take place at the same venue within 48 hours of the original scheduled start time of the meeting, all bets stand as if the meeting was not postponed.
- If scratchings are reinstated due to a postponed meeting at the same venue then all bets are void.
- Futures (All In Betting) that have been postponed or transferred from the original date, all bets stand until the completion of the event.
Deductions
- All fixed odds bets may be subject to deduction after the placement of the fixed odds bet. These deductions are applied to the face value (expected winnings) of the bet. Deductions apply to all runners including emergencies.
- In the case of scratchings after the declaration of the final field, and after the bet has been placed, deductions will apply to the face value of winning fixed odds bets as per Sportsbets deductions table. See 3.3.5
- Deduction calculations are specified as a percentage deducted from each dollar of the wagers winnings.
- In the event that multiple runners are scratched from a race, a combined deduction rate will be calculated by summing the total of each of the scratched runners deduction rates as per Sportsbet’s deductions table. See `Deductions Table`

Errors
- If Sportsbet publishes, posts or quotes any incorrect betting information for any thoroughbred, harness or greyhound racing event, such as posting wrong odds, then regardless of the cause of the source of such error Sportsbet has the right to void each member's bet.
Acceptance of Bets after Start Time
- If a single bet is inadvertently accepted after the official start time of the event, the bet shall be deemed to be invalid and will be refunded to the customer.
- If the inadvertently accepted by was part of a multi bet then that leg is deemed void, and the remaining leg(s) of the multi will stand.
Other
- In the event of a horse or greyhound being withdrawn late by order of the stewards, all bets will be paid as stewards direct, including deductions on remaining runners. See deductions table
- Bets will be settled as per the official decision of Stewards on race day. Where a horse/dog is later disqualified or placings amended at a later date, for any reason, the official result as declared by Stewards on the day of the race will stand
